Meet China’s New Elite Unit:
The Blue Army

  • Sharebar

China recently confirmed the existence of its Blue Army.

China funded over tens of millions investment on the formation of a 30-strong commando unit of cyber warriors – a squad primarily trained to protect the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) from outside attack on its networks.

The Blue Army which believed to be composed of existing PLA soldiers, officers, college students and assorted members of society is for defensive purpose only and not intended for hacking and clarifies that it won’t initiate an attack on anyone.

The blue team works under the Guangzhou Military Region (one of the seven across China) and had conducted a synchronized Internet exercise with different military units in late April.

The formation of the Blue Army reminds me of the game Command & Conquer: Generals. There is a Chinese military unit called a hacker in that game. A hacker-the information specialist of China. Hackers can hack into structure’s computer systems and disable the structure for a period of time. They can also hack online bank accounts to receive a steady supply of cash.
